Jessica Mariconda, Esq.
Ms. Mariconda has developed specializations in employment law, representing both employers and employees, and personal injury law, as well as having extensive experience in such additional areas of the law as special education, landlord/tenant, construction contracts, collections and trusts and estates. Ms. Mariconda has appeared before State and Federal courts, the Office of Administrative Law as well as administrative agencies, including the Department of Labor and the Department of Education. Ms. Mariconda has been involved in all phases of litigation and negotiated settlements, severance packages, general releases representing employees against both large and small companies. In 2023, Ms. Mariconda tried D’Antonio, et al. v. Newark School District, where the Jury found plaintiffs were victims of age and reverse race discrimination, awarding damages in the amount of $1.2 million.
Ms. Mariconda has also represented corporate clients in many aspects of business, including, but not limited to, providing training on Human Resources related topics, preparing employee handbooks and personnel policies, interpreting discrimination laws, conducting seminars on interviewing and hiring practices, working through stressful terminations and warding off wrongful termination claims. Ms. Mariconda has also conducted independent investigations in response to employee complaints, been involved in all aspects of litigation from inception to termination, including taking and defending depositions, drafting discovery and drafting all documents filed with the Courts to defend or oppose various motions.
Beginning in 2018 and continuing to the present, Ms. Mariconda has co-taught with Linda Niedweske a course entitled “Law and Public Policy” to candidates for their Masters’ in Public Administration through Rutgers University. In the Fall Semester of 2021, Ms. Mariconda co-taught with Ms. Niedweske Constitutional Law for undergraduates at Berkeley College.
Ms. Mariconda has lectured extensively on employment and human resources matters for companies and organizations, such as Berkeley College, the Society for Human Resource Management, and Lorman Educational Services.
